I'm a stickler for buttons, colors, stitching, lengths, patterns, layers... the intricate simplicity of it all excites me!

The details of my life are so complex... I mix and match... I'm always doing something different with my looks... you can't categorize me. The only thing you know for sure, no questions asked, beyond a shadow of a doubt ... I will always look FRESH!

Okay sooooo I stalked this dress! I first saw it on a girl when I lived in NY. Then I saw a girl in it in J.Crew in Bmore... And the one person I thought would look fab in it was Sheri! I had no idea where it was from but I had a good guess. Well one day we were in DC in Zara and what was sitting on the sale rack but the damn dress! Yippeee it was fate cause they had my size and Sheri's size! We have both rocked it and it looked fab both ways... her's might have been a little sassier because she has boobies! hmph!

This is like the perfect 'Date Night' dress... ugh! Someone take me on a date... at least you know I will look cute!

I haven't had a reason to dress up in a while... so when Ty invited me to the Fab Empire Awards... I jumped at the opportunity to care about what I put on.

And I was on my best behavior... I guess they know who his heart really belongs too... and it wasn't the girl with the shiny ("I want y'all to know I'm his girl and I'm throwing him this party") dress on! Ha!

In the car contemplating whether or not I should go into the homies party... I should have went with my first instinct! lol!

This was kinda sorta something like an awful night!

First, I was told this chick is going around spreading rumors and lies about me... one saying I'm broke... hmmmmm. I wonder what her definition of broke is because I am far from it. Am I broke because I choose to not spend my money on certain people? Am I broke because I choose to put something back in the store because I simply realize I don't want or need it? I don't get it. But okay. Her saying it is not really what bothers me, it's the people she is telling it to that then decides to tell other people like it's NEWS... when did the money I have in my pocket become 'news', something to discuss, a topic of conversation, relevant or important? Oh what immature lives we live, yall must be bored since you decide to entertain such foolishness!

Second, me and a good friend get into a semi argument because of a joke that I didn't get. So I had to leave the event I was at because they were there first and I didn't want them to sit there upset because of me. I rather them continue to have fun and I dismiss myself.

Third, the surprise party I was invited to and then once I made a plate, uninvited by the person that invited me because the person who helped blow up the balloons was going to have an issue with me being there, because I am an ex. Ummmmm I'm also a friend of the family. A friend of the friends. I'm not disrespectful, I was being good. Ugh, my mind was on other things I didn't have time to cause drama. But I guess my mere little presence was too much for some people to handle, so someone told on me and I had to leave. LOL! An 'ex' means someone in the past, sheeesh why we just can't be friends now... I'm sure I wasn't the only girl in there that was an ex but I guess I was the most effective! lmao!

Finally, I drove home drinking my wine, went to sleep then work up the next morning to hear Jessie Jackson preach at my church for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Birthday and #OccupyTheDream, powerful message. Hearing him preach and having this be a story I can share with my kids, made all that stuff that happened on Saturday irrelevant!

...I have a Dream!!!

I really, really, really like Dawn... since her days on Making the Band she always moved me the most.
I've been tracking her career since the beginning and have always been a fan. I would LOVE to see her win. She can be a huge success... but people will not let her be great! It's sad how harsh some of those blogs comments are.

iLOVE this Song!

I like most of the video elements... the black and white concept was great. The outfits were... ummmm... they just needed little tweaks to be perfect. I felt it was missing the 'Superhero' element... that edge of really needing to be saved... the true feelings the song evoked. The locations were great, but the editing of the video may have taken away from some of it's fire. The solo dancer performance one of my favorite parts of the video.

I do believe it's true that she and Brandy have similar sounds, they both sing in the same tone. It's not the first time I've said she sounds like Brandy. I want them to do a duet together. I don't think it's anything wrong with sounding similar to a person but you have to be original in everything else. Brandy is relivent to certain age groups... the new tiny-boppers don't know Brandy the way we do so they might really embrace Dawns sound. I hope they do because I want her to have opportunities and be able to hold her own on a larger platform.

She's a great talent, she just need the right people behind her creatively to ensure her success.

2011 has been the biggest teacher of my life. Things happened this year that I would never have imagined happening to me. But it was an eye openner, a realization of things about myself and the people around me. I've been placed on so many differnt sides of the spectrum of life that it seems like I should be prepared for anything. Even though I know thats not the case. You are never really prepared for life. But I have faith, knowledge and passion, these are all things that is going to drive me to success in this new year and years to come. I'm FOCUSEd! Or at least I pray to be more focused this year!

Being a better me is my goal... I'm excited!

Out with the old (2011) and in with the new (2012)... let's make this a great year!

A year ago on this date December 28 ...my heart was broken!

I lost a FRIEND but gained an Angel!

I thought I could make it through this day without sheading a tear.

Who was I kidding.

I havent been able to make it a consecutive week in 12 months,

so how did I think I was going to make 24 hours.

**After she passed away, I wrote a blog about her and how much she meant to me. I recieved some back lash from it. People felt I expressed to much of who she was and what she meant to me in my blog. I was so hurt. I didn't understand how expressing your love for someone who meant a lot to you could be 'too much'. So for 12 months I have been cautious of what I say, what I do and how I express my emotions about her. Because I didn't want to offend anyone or seem too emotional or not strong enough to be able to deal with it in solitude. I'm not one of those ones to put everything on social networks, I don't do things to recieve smpthy. But MY blog, iStyleLikeMe, is MY place where I can say and do what I feel... because this is a place I created to be me. I'm mad at myself for allowing the opinions of others to change how I express myself. Dan was always true to heself, she lived her life the way she saw fit and didn't apologize or have any regrets. She just learned from it, adapt, and moved on. The way she lived her life taught me some valuable lessons. I've had a full year to reflect on them and to understand what made her a great person and why people loved her so much. I could only hope to be as much of a force in people's lives as she was in ours.**

Linz Christmas Brunch!

Finally Linz and Drake have a tree that is worth looking at.

Long story short Linz brought a $5 tree in a box from a thrift store. When she opened the box and put the tree together it was worst than a Charlie Brown tree. Trenier brought another tree from K-mart, in a box for about $20. Well it was supposed to be a 6 ft tree... as you can see 2 feet of the tree is missing. Someone opened the box, took out the parts they needed, taped the box back up, returned it to the store... and it ended up back on the shelf. But we had faith and it turned out pretty cool!

I had no idea it was going to blossom this Spring/Summer to come. I am not mad that this trend has longevity, this happens all the time. Each season is a tester, a prelude to next years real style. I have a habit of leaving the house without a coat... not really sure why. I guess from the Summer to it really not feeling like Winter yet, my mind is not thinking coat! Well I got a txt this morning from the homie A, telling me to wear a coat! I promised him I would. But as you can see this puff vest was the best I could come up with! Ugh! I don't know why I can't get into this coat thing. I did put on a jacket a couple of times, but I don't consider those real coats! ...the Cutie Chronicles Continue!

My Bear performed a monolog in her school Holiday play...

OMG! She was amazing, she was also in the middle school band, playing the Flute!

I'm so proud of her!

After Bear's Holiday Play, my coworkers talked me into coming down to the #CompanyHolidayParty! I had absolutely no intentions on going, I didn't buy a ticket nor did I plan an outfit! But since I was available I rushed home, threw on this outfit and was out the door in 20 minutes!

All of the 7 people I know were happy to see me, especially since they knew I wasn't coming. It was good to see them in a different element. It was also great to meet some new people. We all work on different sites so I never know who is who! I didn't even know one of my LONG time friends (Keiva) worked for the company! She was at the event and we both had no idea each other worked there... that's crazy!

She and my friend Marcus girlfriend both had on LBD's and looked AMAZING!!!! ugh! I need to invest in an LBD! :(

When the holiday's come so does cleaning and shopping... I spend most of the day cleaning, then around 7PM I decided I would leave the house to shop! smh... I'm always so late!

I LOVE THANKSGIVING!!!!

It's one of my Favorite Holidays! ...the abundance of food, family and LOVE on this day is Amazing!

As much as I love this holiday is also sad for me... all my favorite people who are not here with me anymore loved and adored this holiday too. My grannies and Dannie, I miss them all so much. Thanksgiving symbolizes the beginning of the holiday season... I'm just going to ask for strength and that the man above allows me to be a blessing to someone else.

Love the FANS... they were dancing, screaming, stomping, yelling, waving signs/blankets, talking crap, drinking beers and just having a good ole time! I really enjoyed myself.

I need to get season tickets... because I can see myself at every game... even though I would not have a voice after the games or season.

My very first time dressing up for Halloween... I don't celebrate this Holiday, but Cakes was having a party and I thought it would be fun to dress up!

The next day half of us were sick to death!!!! It was something in that Belveder that made us feel terribly awful the next day! I could barely keep my eyes open... my head was pounding... it was the worse. I wasn't hungover, because I ONLY had one real drink and then a couple sips of Belve... ugh! I never want to feel like that again. I usually only feel like that after Tequila... now I can't even stand the smell of Tequila! I hope all the beautiful birthday girls had a great time!
